Melvin Richard Simms, 60, of Salisbury passed away February 3, 2012 at his residence.
He was born September 2, 1951 in Cabarrus County, NC, a son of Alma Mae Lowery and the late Marvin Simms.
Mr. Simms served his country in the US Army. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was employed as a chef for many years.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by wife Judy Simms, brother Brooks Simms and sister Ruth Jacobs.
Left to cherish his memories is his mother: Alma Mae Simms of Salisbury; son: Daniel Simms and wife Michelle of Cleveland; step-daughters: Cynthia Absher of Gastonia, Dawn Humphrey of Salisbury and Donna Cunningham of Dallas, NC; step-son: William “Billy” Asbher of Salisbury; sisters: Doris Mabery of Salisbury and Dixie Bean of South Carolina; five grandchildren: Dallas Simms, Sydney Humphrey, Reise Absher, April Kelly and Nick Bakis.
