Melvin Ray Herritt, age 74, passed away Friday at his home. Born in Wayne County, NC, he was the son of the late Jack Loren and Betty Gregory Herritt. He was the husband of the late Brenda Turnage Herritt. A Veteran of the United States Air Force, he was retired from Carolina Door & Hardware and a member of The Lord’s Table in Goldsboro, NC. Ray was a staunch fan of the Duke Blue Devils Basketball team.
Ray is survived by his wife, Delza Mills Herritt; his son, Jamie Herritt (Erin); his daughter, Lisa Stanley (Bob); his step children, James Galloway (Florelle), Mensah Adams (Shella) and Adelsa Shield (Dawson); his sisters, Carol Herring and Joyce Carnley (Frank); his grandchildren, Jackson Herritt, Mikayla Olejar, Kaitlyn Olejar, Kaley Olejar, Jenna Stanley and Hallie Stanley; 6 step grandchildren.
