Melvin Mace, 60, of Fortville, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 27, 2021. He was born on December 8, 1960, in Tipton, Indiana.
Melvin attended Sheridan High School and proudly joined the Army in 1981, and worked in the Signal Corps as a Radio Operator. After he was honorably discharged, he currently worked at the Pendleton Reformatory where he was faithfully employed for the last 34 years.
He was a member of the NRA.
Melvin loved Jeeps, NHRA drag racing, and was a sharpshooter marksman as well as a firearms instructor. Melvin enjoyed making his own bullets and spending time with his family.
Melvin is survived by his loving daughters, Melanie (Josh) Smith, Melissa (Jack) House; son, Matt (Abrina) Harrison; grandchildren, Macen House, Jacklynn House, Jared House, Ruthann Wood, Drake Wood, Roslynn Wood, Carrie Harrison, and Matthew Harrison, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Hunter, and Elijah; his twin brother, Michael Mace; siblings, Zoena (John) Johnson, and Debbie Hodkins; special friend, Marilyn Mace; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Harriett (Smith) Mace; and his siblings, Jeffery Mace, Pamela Mace, Larry Bush, Nolan Bush, Jacqueline Ballard, and Noticia Phifer.
