Melvin M. Hagemann, age 88 of Freeport, IL, passed away with his family by his side on Friday, August 18, 2017 at Presence St. Joseph in Freeport.

He was born April 19, 1929; the son of the late Christian and Augusta (Kilker) Hagemann. Melvin married June Wiegman on December 9, 1950; she passed on July 2, 2012.

He farmed for many years with his wife, June, in that time also sold seed corn and they took many enjoyable trips with the seed company. He retired from farming in 1978 and continued truck driving. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle and took many enjoyable rides with his family. He was the Silver Creek Township Road Commissioner for over 12 years, a job he truly enjoyed. Melvin was a steady worker who liked to keep busy and has done several odd jobs over the years. He also enjoyed playing 42.

He is survived by three daughters, Beverly (Rodney) Grobe of Georgia, Barbara Dickens of Chatsworth, IL and Diane Henneman of Leaf River, IL; three sons, James (Shawn) Hagemann of Fort Morgan, CO, Michael (Cindy) Hagemann of Baileyville, IL and Jeffrey Hagemann of Baileyville, IL; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; Godson, Tom Hecker of Baraboo, WI; sister-in-law, Melinda Wool of Freeport, IL; and several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, June; brothers, LeRoy, Ray, Harvey, Verlon, and Leonard; sisters, Lois Stebbins, Ruth Hagemann, and Lucille Hagemann; son-in-law, Norman Henneman; and daughter-in-law, Mary Hagemann.
