Melvin L. Fields, 78 of Terre Haute passed away November 26, 2011 at 4:30 a.m. in Union Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones. Melvin was born March 3, 1933 in Terre Haute to Marshall R. Fields and Grace Brazzell Fields. Mel worked as a teamster for Wabash Valley Asphalt for more than 30 years, and was also a member of the Indiana National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved gardening, working in his garage, especially tinkering with things he bought at auction. He was an avid fan of going to auctions, especially the Terre Haute Auction House. He loved antiques, even maintaining a space at Nancy’s Downtown Mall for over 20 years. He loved to play music, and most of all he deeply valued his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Melvin, Darrell, and Charles Fields, and one Son-in-Law, Mark Kibler. He is survived by the love of his life Sue Mullen Fields, whom he married January 1, 1953.
