Melvin Joel Melchior, “Mel”, age 65, died September 22, 2019 at his home in Denver, Colorado, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mel was born in Richardton, North Dakota, on June 23, 1954, to Frank and Clara Melchior, the fourth of seven children. He grew up on the family farm six miles southeast of Richardton, and attended St. Mary’s and Richardton Public Schools. He participated in high school track, ranking on the state level; graduating in 1972.
After graduation, Mel moved to Dickinson, North Dakota, working the in the insurance field for several years before finding his niche in plumbing. In 1988, he moved his family to Denver to continue his career and earn his Master Plumber’s license.
On Sundays, you could usually find Mel in front of his smoker, cooking brisket or ribs.
