Melvin Feather, Jr., age 62, of the Bear Clan and Red Lake, Minnesota journeyed to the spirit world on Sunday, March 15th, 2020 from the Red Lake IHS Hospital in Red Lake, MN. He was born on May 18th, 1957 in Red Lake, MN to Geraldine (Jones) Yellow and Melvin Feather, Sr.
Melvin was raised and educated in Red Lake, MN. In 1981, he moved to Minneapolis where he took a bridge building job. In 1983 he met his special friend Ramona Brown. He and Ramona moved back home to Red Lake in 1985, while Ramona was pregnant with their first child. For the next five years Melvin was a fisherman and netter with his buddies on Red Lake and in 1990 he was hired as a security guard at the 7 Clans Casino in Red Lake. Melvin worked there for 30 years before retiring. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Melvin enjoyed watching his favorite T.V. shows, wrestling, and the Vikings with his sons. He also loved traveling with his oldest daughter to Minneapolis to visit his good friend Moreno Kendall. Most recently, Melvin spent many afternoons playing 8 ball pool. He was a great father and a big-hearted friend.
Family that Melvin is reunited with are his parents, Geraldine Yellow and Melvin Feather, Sr.; brothers, Duane, Daryl, Douglas and Dominic Feather; sisters, Dawn and Theresa Feather and many more relatives that journeyed before him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Melvin (Shauna) Feather III and Steven Joseph (Cindy) Brown both of Red Lake, Ryan Lee (Alexis) Feather of Ponemah, Melanie Brown of Minneapolis and Alison (Christina) of Crookston; sisters, Carolyn (Ivan) Feather and Delores (Guy) Yellow-Feather both of Minneapolis, 20 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
