Melvin E. Potts, 82, of Carlyle died on Wednesday December 30, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
He was born March 31, 1927 in Peoria, IL and married Freeda Potts on March 25, 1953; she proceeded in death in 2003. Mr. Potts is survived by a daughter; Elizabeth Potts of Carlyle, a son Danny Lee Scaggs of Carlyle.
Melvin was a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed doing for others, as demonstrated by helping with the Matthew 25 food distributions.
