Those who loved him just lost a gentle, kind, compassionate, gracious, and unique man.

Duane was born on December 31, 1934 in Devils Lake, North Dakota and died on January 14th, 2016 in his home. He spent his youth in Los Angeles. He married Mardy Myers in 1956 and then moved their small family to Boise, along with their best friends, the Roberts and the Motts. It was the second best decision he ever made! He worked at Boise Dodge, Lyle Pearson, Cantrell Auto, and retired from HP.

An expert on all things Greeves, in the 60’s he and Bill Mott owned Boise Greeves. In his youth, street racing made him known by name in the LA traffic court. The ultimate motor-head, starting with his inboard ski boat, his street and dirt bikes, his red flamed 3 window coupe and his favorite new toy, his blue Lightning truck – but his most glorious days were spent pheasant hunting with his pal Lar, and up on 8th street on his KTM with his pal Stan, where he may have been the only 80-year-old riding those trails.

He leaves behind his best friend and greatest admirer: Mardy, his wife of 60 years; and all who knew him admired and respected him. Duane and Mardy had two daughters, Kate (husband Jerry James) and Kim (who passed away in 1995);  his special grandson: Shaun (wife Kelly); grandchildren: Jordan, Kyanna, Braydan, Alexis and Kourtnee; his sister: Bev Boone; and his nephews Ken and Scott; his cousins: Connie and Cindy; and nephew, Robert; and he loved his brother and sisters-in- law: Jeanie ,Charlotte and Gus (wife Penny) .He was a man of few words and a positive outlook; upstanding, trustworthy, and honorable, a person you could always count on. We who miss him are greatly comforted by his repeated exclamation “I could not have had a better life!” We want to thank, family, friends, caregivers, and our best neighbors, whose prayers enabled him to take his last ride so peacefully. He was “Simply the Best.”
