Markleville – Melvin Dean Beeman, 71, Markleville, died May 11, 2005, at his residence after an extended illness.
He was born November 19, 1933, in Moonsville, Indiana, and resided in Markleville, Indiana. He lived recently in Markleville and was a longtime resident of Alexandria. He retired in 1991 from the Delco Remy Division of General Motors. He attended Yorktown High School. He was a member of the East Christian Church in Markleville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Madison County Shrine Club, Zone Committeeman & member of the UAW Local #662, President of Madison County Coon Hunters Club, was a Golden Glove Boxer in the 1950s, and was a very active democrat. He portrayed Santa Claus for Toys for Tots for many years.
He is survived by his children: Debbie Huffman & companion Jim Hughes of Markleville, Anita & husband Dan Walker of Anderson, Deanna & husband Bob Bassett of Lowell, Beth & husband Ted Hiatt of Anderson, Karen Thompson & companion Brian Sayers of Anderson, Kowinna Huskey of Riedsville, North Carolina, Donna & husband Tracy ”Facey” Price of Anderson and Moses G. Beeman II of San Diego, California. Siblings: Martha Maxine Bowen of Muncie, Marvin & wife Sharon Beeman of Alexandria, Moses & wife Pam Beeman of Mooresville, Larry Beeman of Hartford City, and Rose Beeman of Anderson. Seventeen Grandchildren: Mike ”Rooster” Cage, Monica Cage, Melanie Smith, Angie Seward, Holly Bryson, Tom Bassett Kim Bialaszewski, Kevin Hiatt, Phillip ”P.D.” Parker, Jenny ”Harriet” Bell, Merrill Daughtery, Ashley Thompson, Shaun ”Hoss” Price, Tracy ”Bub” Price, Casey Price, Stephanie Kelli, and Eric Kennedy. Twenty Seven Great Grandchildren, Several Nieces, and Nephews.A special thanks to St. John Hospice and Dr. Stephen ”Hamburger” Berghoffer.
He was preceded in death by his wife in April 1974: Rose Garrison Beeman. Man’s Best Friend: Sparky. Siblings: Don Beeman, Wilbur Beeman, Harry Beeman, Delbert Beeman, Irene Gooding, Ella Clausen, and twin Eileen Brown. Grandson: Robby Colvill. Great Grandson: Keeton Carmack. Sons-in-law: Dennis Thompson, Larry Huffman, and Billy Huskey. Parents: Lewis V. & Harriett Stewart Beeman.
