Melvin “Mel” Catt, 83, of Bruceville, passed away at his residence on December 24, 2013 with his family at his bedside. He was born April 1, 1930 in Princeton, IN, the son of Mel & Gertrude Troxler Catt. He was a graduate of Edwardsport High School and he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He married Wanda Jo Hedrick and they made their life together for 58 years until her death on April 18, 2012. He was a retired mechanic and retired from Crane Navel Depot, a member of the Edwardsport Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star and the American Legion. He is survived by his family, Wayne Alan Catt, and his wife Larrie Anne of Washington, IN and Heath Lee Catt, and his wife Stacy of Freelandville, IN. Grandchildren, Kane Catt, Kyle Catt and his wife Lindsay, Guy Catt, Braxton Catt, Dakota Bentrud, McKenna Bentrud, Spencer Bentrud and great grandchildren, Addison Catt, Brinley Catt and Kyndal Peach.
He is also survived by his fiance`, Mary Ellen Summers of Bruceville, IN, brothers, Joseph Catt of Westphalia, IN and Floyd Catt of Greenwood, IN, sister, Frances Stoelting of Edwardsport, IN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Jo, his parents, brothers and sisters, Anthony Catt, Robert L. Catt, Leona Mounts, Mabel Catt, Betty Mason and Mary Jane Gustofson.
