Melvin “Mel” B. MacKillip, 86, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012. Mel is survived by his wife Phyllis of 64 years; son Michael (Fauna); daughter Judith; grandchildren Michael Paul, Melissa (Ramon Paniagua), Matthew, Meriah and Benjamin; and great grandchildren Josefina and Jason.
Mel was born in Stamford, NY on February 19, 1925 and moved to Littleton in 1959. Mel was a decorated World War II veteran, retired Martin Marietta employee, and supported Phyllis from 1965-1988 at Woodlawn in the family business, Young World and the Guy’s shop. Mel’s ability to plan and analyse situations and his sense of humor and wit made him special. He enjoyed skiing, golf, and was a model airplane enthusiast.
