Melva Jean (McCabe) Caplinger, 67, of Trafalgar, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Melva was born on January 10, 1954 in Greenfield, Indiana to the late Paul and Rebecca Louise (McLemore) McCabe.
Melva married her husband, Jeffery Darrell Caplinger, on August 18, 1996 in the Johnson County Park in Nineveh, Indiana; they were married for twenty-five wonderful years.
Melva worked as a secretary and as a cashier until her retirement. She was a member of Johnson County REACT and a part owner of The Jeff & Friends Puppet Show. Melva was a loving mother and a wonderful grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. Along with creating memories with her loved ones, she enjoyed completing word searches and adding new pieces to her collection of black bear statues.
Melva is survived by her husband, Jeffery Caplinger of Trafalgar, IN; her son, Jeffrey A. Chambers of Trafalgar, IN; her two step-children, Joshua W. Caplinger of Kentucky and Kyra Nichole Sizemore of Seymour, IN; her granddaughter, Stephanie Nichole Singer of Seymour, IN; her siblings, Margaret Dukes of New Whiteland, IN and Alan McCabe of Greenwood, IN; her mother-in-law, Margaret Caplinger; her sister-in-law, Deborah J. (Roger) Stoll of Franklin, IN; her brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Letha) Caplinger of West Virginia, Jim (Ruth) Caplinger of Franklin, IN, and Michael Caplinger of Franklin, IN; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Melva was preceded in death by her son, William “Billy” McCabe, her parents, Paul and Rebecca McCabe, and her father-in-law, Elza Caplinger.
