Melodie Ann Remily, age 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 21, 2021 surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Melodie (Woods) was born on July 16, 1957, in Des Moines, IA to Louis (Lou) Woods and Bette Way. Melodie grew up and lived her entire life in the Beaverdale neighborhood of Des Moines. Melodie loved her home, she was a homebody at heart. Melodie married the love of her life, Danny Remily, in the backyard of their home. Melodie and Danny were married for 37 years and raised their family in this same home on Ovid Avenue. Melodie loved the sun.
On warm summer days, you would find her floating in the backyard pool, working on her tan. She loved family gatherings, and oftentimes would host get togethers, welcoming all. Anyone that knew Melodie can speak to her love of Pepsi and need to continuously redecorate or rearrange the house. On rare occasions when Melodie wasn’t at home, you would likely find her at her favorite place, Prairie Meadows, playing her luck on the slot machines and visiting with friends. Melodie was known for her strong personality, some might say stubbornness, but more for her even bigger heart. Melodie will be remembered for her love of children, providing in-home daycare services to neighboring families for 43 years. Her lasting impact as a childcare provider was evident in the generations of children she cared for.
Melodie is survived by her husband Danny, her three children, Michelle Caisman of San Diego, CA, Danielle Remily of Des Moines, IA, and Christopher (Jessica) Remily of Highland Park, IL, two grandchildren, Emma Parker of Des Moines, IA and Charlotte Remily of Highland Park, IL. Surviving siblings include Ron (Ann) Woods of Germantown Hills, IL, Val Karaidos of Des Moines, IA, Mike (Jennifer) Way of Waukee, IA, and Jack Way of Ankeny, IA.
