Melissa O. (Beebe) Skym, age 91 died Sunday December 12, 2010 at the Mid Michigan Medical Center-Gladwin. The daughter of the late Newton and Elsie (Huber) Beebe was born on January 16, 1919 in Midland where she was raised and educated. On May 1, 1937 she married Eugene Skym in Lee Twp and he predeceased her in 1982. Melissa worked as a care giver for many years with several Midland area families and enjoyed stepping in with children when parents needed help. Melissa was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking, baking, quilting, sewing and knitting. She was also known by her poems and songs that she wrote. Was a member of the Midland Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Melissa is survived by her sons: Frank A. (Waity) Skym of Wentworth, MO, Larry E. Skym of Midland, Robert D. (Carol) Skym of Midland, Thomas E. Skym of Arcadia, FL, Ellen E. Couturier of Beaverton, Patsy A. Leger of Cleveland, TX, and 32 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Melvin, Clyde, Verion Beebe and Martha Small and Shirley Holzschuh, son in law John Weber and special friend Pauline Barfield of Arcadia, FL. In addition to her parents and husband she is predeceased by James E. Skym, Betty J. Weber and siblings William, Richard, Milford “Pete”, Judson Beebe and Bernice Haney.
