Melford Harrington passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the age of 87. He was born in Kalamazoo on May 19, 1925, the son of the late Clare and Lucille Ritter Harrington. He served with the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Durametallic Corporation, now Flowserve, retiring on January 1, 1986 after 30 years of service.
He was a member of Milwood United Methodist Church. Melford enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, golfing and woodworking. He was married to Esther “Jean” V. Jones Harrington on November 5, 1949; she survives him. He is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth Joanne Harrington of Kalamazoo and Clare Harrington, Jr. of Allegan; his nieces and nephews, Bill Jean Irwin Jr. of Kalamazoo, Bonnie DeRidder of Marshall, Bruce Becky Irwin of Kalamazoo, Maxine Truemper of Park Falls, WI, Dawn Paul Searles of Delton, Mike Cathy Harrington of Allegan; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
