Meldon James Davis “Jim”, 82 of Boise, Idaho entered Eternal Life on November 5th, 2022 at Meridian Meadows Assisted Living.
Jim was in the first graduating class from Borah High School in 1959. Later in life he attended Boise State University and got a bachelors degree in Business Management. He had a long career in the military which spanned multiple decades. He served in the United States Army and the Idaho National Guard at Gowan Field (Boise). He achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the military in 2000 he went on to be a Realtor then a bus driver for the Meridian School District. He then became the Director of Transportation for Meridian as well. Jim also did drivers testing for the Idaho Transportation Department.
Jim was an avid horseman, raising Appaloosas for many years. He raised an award winning stallion, named Canseaus Autumn Moon “Moon”, 1973. He enjoyed riding, going to rodeos, and out-riding most of the cowboys. He loved showing and was a long time member of the Western Riding Club as well as a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club.
He enjoyed woodworking for many years and made wooden rocking horses for his grandchildren, amongst other keepsakes.
He enjoyed riding ATV’s at their cabin in Garden Valley, ID, and sometimes the ATV’s rode him (especially Big Red). He had many broken ribs and a broken collarbone through the years. But, just like with riding horses he always got back on and did it again. The cabin was his favorite place to be.
Most of all Jim was a family man, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. RV trips to Jackpot and road trips in general.
Anyone who knew Jim, loved Jim. Mostly he will be remembered for his playful and mischievous sense of humor. Able to spin a wild tail on any subject at the drop of a hat using many voices and accents to make you smile.
Jim should be remembered as a very accomplished man, fierce protector of his family, and a colonel at heart. He loved his family, his Bassets, and his friends. He will be missed dearly by all those who are lucky enough to know him.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Hazel, father Nealy, and older brother Vernon. He is survived by his loving wife Donna of 58 years, his son Toby, his daughter Kym (Dave) Everman, his son Aaron (Stacey) Davis, his grandsons Nick and Tristan, his granddaughters Shelbey, Hannah, Mckenna, Haley, and Samantha, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
