KIRCHEMMelba Kaufmann Kirchem, born September 30, 1919, a lifelong resident of New Orleans passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011. Preceded in death by her parents, Louise and George Kaufmann, Sr., her son, Kenneth William Kirchem, and her siblings, Dorothy Hupin and George Kaufmann, Jr. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lurline Kirchem, granddaughters, Danelle and Colleen Kirchem, great granddaughters, Skye and Sierra Dashner and Lolette McDonald, her niece, Cathy Dupuy and her sister-in-law, Barbara Kaufmann. She enjoyed a long career as school secretary at John A. Shaw Elementary. After retiring from NOPS, she had the opportunity to travel extensively while working at Universal Travel Agency.
