Maya Lee Ann Reno, 10, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Maya was born on March 20, 2012, to Josh and Heather Reno. She was a third grader at Wes-Del Elementary and attended Gaston United Methodist Church, where she liked to run the camera for the live stream and help ring the church bell.

Maya was extremely creative and loved arts and crafts. She enjoyed drawing and painting, and since she loved to make potions and play with slime, she wanted to become a scientist when she grew up.

Maya was a firecracker who was full of life and determined to forge her own path. She wouldn’t get close to just anyone, but once she trusted you, you were under her protection. She loved everything and everyone, especially babies and kids. She was fiercely independent and was a beacon of light to all who knew her.

Maya is survived by her parents, Josh (Anna Raver) Reno and Heather (Matt Bertram) Reno, both of Gaston; siblings, Hannah (Jared Toney), Hailey, and Hayden Sneed, Christopher and Braxton Chesterman, Dustin Fields, and Dominic and Marley Bertram; niece, Diana Toney; grandparents, Mike and Diana Elton Yohey and Ronnietta Reno; uncles, Travis (Angie) Elton, Jim (Kimberly) Moore, and JR (Brittainy) Raef; aunts, Christi Moore and Rachel Deeter; special cousins, Jaleigh Moore, Austin Reno, Tyler and Serenity Deeter, Max and Wyatt Elton, Keegan,, Camron, Baylen, Will, Alex, and many others too numerous to mention; special friends, Kathy Hunt and Jessica Johnson; and many friends and classmates.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Morgan Reno; special cousin, Bryce Deeter; grandfathers Herbert “Hoppy” Elton, Jr. and Doug Reno; and great-grandparents, Herbert Sr. and Ruth Elton, Charles and Luella Piner, Charles and Margaret Reno, and Frank and Phyllis Burton.
