May Lou Witczak, 77, of Peru, passed away Monday, April 4, 2011 at Heritage Manor in LaSalle. Mrs. Witczak was born May 1, 1933 in LaSalle to Fred and Jessie (Hamilton) Stegen. She married Edward J. Witczak on November 27, 1954 in St. Valentines Church in Peru. Mrs. Witczak was a member of St. Valentines Church and the Peru Moose Lodge. She was among the first group of volunteers at the Peru Volunteer Ambulance Service, where she served as an EMT. She crocheted afghans for which she won several awards, including blue ribbons at the state and county fair. She also enjoyed teaching others to crochet. She had been employed at Westclox, Toms Floral Shop and Boys Park Store. Survivors include two sons, Thomas (Cindy) Witczak and Joseph E. Witczak, both of Peru; four grandchildren, Jennifer Cerretto, Clark J. Witczak, Kerry J. Witczak and Kimberly Jo (Ryan) Chambers; four great-grandchildren, Zachary, Dylan, Tyler and Christopher and one sister, Jessie Ann (Bob) Padilla of LaSalle. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward on March 28, 2009; two sons, Edward J. Jr. and Johnny Witczak; three brothers, Jim, Fred and Jack Stegen and four sisters, Johanna Kwiatek, Bess Neives, Ada Reutner and Ruth Unzicker. Pallbearers will be Paul Witczak, Ryan Chambers, Gerry Stachowiak, Paul Kilanowski and her grandchildren.
