May Coupe, 85, of New Troy, Michigan died Wednesday afternoon, January 25, 2006 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

May was born March 7, 1920 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Esther (Morrison) Marx. She pursued her degree in nursing and was employed as a Registered Nurse at the Migrant Clinic in Berrien Center, Michigan and later at the West Wing of Memorial Hospital, in St. Joseph, Michigan. On November 12, 1945, she married Harry Coupe in Chicago. They made their home in New Troy. May loved her family and raising her five children. She was a homeroom mother, band parent and 4-H leader.

May was a good hostess who made sure that everyone had fun whenever she was around. She loved animals, especially horses, and enjoyed sewing, photography and working in her flower garden.

Survivors include her husband, Harry; children, Judy (Ron) Shermak, Hudsonville, Michigan; Alice DeYoung, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Catherine (Jason) Gray, Springfield, Virginia; Mary Coupe, Grand Rapids; and John (Trish) Coupe, Hamilton, Michigan; grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Amy, Rebecca, Kate, Courtney, and Dillon; her step sister, Mary Scott of Rockford, Illinois, and her nieces and nephews.
