Maxine Tanguay of New Britain passed away peacefully at Aurora Senior Living on June 19, 2013 after a brief illness. She was the only child of Simon and Bertha (Hills) Stabert, born on November 1, 1920. She was the widow of her high school sweetheart, Alfred “Freddie” Tanguay. Maxine was a woman of deep faith, and was an active member of St. Jerome’s church and the Legion of Mary. Until recently, she sent all the parish birthday cards. She worked and retired from CIGNA after 35 years of service. She loved her family and enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays with them. Her favorite question was “what’s for dessert?” She also loved shopping on QVC, and enjoyed bestowing these treasures on family and friends. Maxine will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son and daughter-in- law, Michael & Gail Tanguay, her long time devoted companion and best friend, Fred Friedman, his daughter and “special” daughter to Maxine, Linda Friedman, her grandchildren Terry & Tom Sharp, Cindy Tanguay, Wendy & Mark Blomfield, and Scott & Alice Reeves .Maxine took great delight in the activities and pictures of her 4 great grandchildren, Taylor & Ryan Sharp, William Reeves and Penelope Blomfield .Maxine is also survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Maureen & David Reeves of Wrentham, England. She was pre-deceased by a son, Scott Tanguay. The family would like to thank Lindsay Clark of V.N.A. for her in home assistance and Barbara Simpson, her longtime friend, for her continued spiritual support of Maxine and the entire family. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the caregivers at Aurora Senior Living and Masonicare Hospice for providing loving care and compassion to Maxine.
