Mrs. Maxine Brookins, age 98 of Heber Springs passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014. Maxine was born Thursday, April 22, 1915 at Charles City, Iowa. She was the daughter of the late Milton and Lucy Chambers. She graduated from High School and was a stenographer and during World War II she served her country as a Welder in the Naval Shipyards. Maxine was a person of strong faith and was a member of the Methodist Church in Charles City, Iowa.
In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin W. Brookins, a brother, a sister, and a grandson. She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn Poe of Drasco; two sons, Larry Brookins of Riverside, California, Dennis Brookins of Palm Bay, Florida; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and many dear friends.
