Maxine Pearl (McClish) West, “Mac” of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at an astounding 100 years old. She was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan to the late Lloyd McClish and Pearl Weick on February 26, 1919. Mac attended Milwood School and State High School and then married her beloved husband Leo West on December 8, 1945.

She was a former volunteer of the American Cancer Society and a member of the Milwood United Methodist Church. Mac participated in sports at both Milwood School and State High School. She had a love for music and played 1st Violin in the orchestra, Junior Symphony, and at other social events. Following high school, she played softball and basketball for different teams and later bowled on a team.

Maxine worked at F.W. Woolworth, KVP, and Upjohn Co. in the Reclamation Dept. for 33 years. Mac enjoyed travelling with her husband, Leo, and on occasion, with her brother Kenneth and sister-in-law Dorothy on many Caribbean cruises, traveling to Hawaii, throughout the United States, and several foreign countries. Maxine enjoyed sharing stories with family and friends over breakfast and lunch at a number of restaurants, in particular Uncle Ernie’s and Theo & Stacy’s.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo; parents Lloyd and Pearl (Weick) McClish; brother Kenneth; sister-in-law Dorothy (Duncan) McClish of Kalamazoo, MI; sister-in-law & spouse Helen (Russell) Nunemaker of Lake Leelanau, MI; Patience (Anson) Lince of Allegan, MI; and niece Dian Miller of Allegan, MI.

Maxine is survived by her Sister-in-law & spouse Ruth (Bert) Rhodes of Dearborn, MI; nephews & spouses: Mike (Fran) McClish of Northville, MI; Tom (Donna) McClish of Richmond, VA; Dan (Pam) McClish of Ruckersville, VA; and Larry (Joyce) McClish of Portage, MI; and several other nieces and cousins.
