Maxine Musch, 92, of Jacksonville, IL and formerly of Green Valley and Manito, IL, passed away August 2, 2017, at Cedarhurst Senior Living Center in Jacksonville.

She was born December 14, 1924, in Cass County, IL, the daughter of Minnie Maddox and Otto Christian Leinberger. She married Floyd Eugene Musch on August 7, 1949, and he survives.

Maxine is also survived by her daughters, Sue (Howard) McGee of Arvada, CO, Laurel Eckhardt of Springfield, and Sharilyn (Timothy) Hayes of Tampa, FL; two grandchildren, Christopher Eckhardt of Springfield and Sheridan Hayes of Tampa, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Maxine was preceded in death by her grandson, Parker Hayes and three brothers, Robert, John, and Joe Leinberger (surviving wife, Alice of Springfield).

Maxine grew up in rural Chandlerville , graduating from Chandlerville High School. She attended Western Illinois University while teaching at Science Hill School, a one-room schoolhouse outside Virginia.

The couple accepted teaching positions at Green Valley Grade School in the fall of 1949 and lived there until 1964, when Floyd became superintendent of the Forman School District in Manito, IL.

Maxine taught her daughters to cook and sew, volunteered at the Manito Public Library, was a substitute teacher, and participated in many church activities. After retirement, the couple returned to Morgan County and lived in the Musch family home in rural Concord.
