Maxine Muehe, 94, of Galesburg, died at 7:25 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, at Knox County Nursing Home surrounded by her family. Maxine was born on January 29, 1923, in Lancaster, MO, the daughter of Nathan R. and Verna B. Forsythe Gibson, Jr. She married Thomas E. Muehe on January 7, 1957, in Kahoka, MO.
He preceded her in death on January 30, 2003. Maxine is survived by four daughters, Melinda (the late Ed) Kempinski of Chicago, Annetta (Kevin) Chase of Galesburg, Karla (Michael) Burress of Pekin, and Deanna (David) Ollman of Galesburg; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Pete (Kathy) Gibson of Lancaster, MO.
Along with her husband and parents, Maxine was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers. Maxine worked as a bookkeeper for the Galesburg Public Library for many years. She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, the Galesburg Women’s Club, Pilot Club, Carrousel, and Bridge Club. Maxine also served as a girl scout leader for many years. She was an avid reader and an excellent seamstress.
