Maxine Massey Johnson, 89, of Salem, Arkansas, passed away, Tuesday, August 11, 2020 in Salem.
She was born in Viola, Arkansas on July 30, 1931, daughter of the late William Bart and Mary Louise (Wainwright) Carter. Maxine spent her life as a loving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend. She was united in marriage to the late James “Jimmy” H. Massey on October 29, 1951 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After Jimmy’s passing, Maxine met and married Clifford Johnson. During her working years, Maxine worked as a Medication Technician for hospitals and nursing home facilities and was an elevator operator. Maxine was of the Presbyterian Faith.
Maxine is survived by her sister, Dixie Williams of Leavenworth, Kansas and niece, Mary Stuart of Alton, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jimmy Massey and Clifford Johnson; parents, William and Mary Carter and 13 brothers and sisters.
