Maxine Kay Mazar, of 6117 Harrow Drive, South Bend, died at 5:20 a.m. Friday (Jan. 26, 2007) at home following an extended illness.

She was born April 20, 1938, in Elkhart to Haven and Fae E. (Whiteman) Trigg. On Feb. 4, 1956, in Niles, Mich., she married Jules P. Mazar. He preceded her in death on June 3, 2006.

Surviving are three daughters, Valerie L. Mazar of Grand Rapids, Mich., Renee A. (Chris) Ringos of Elkhart and Sutton D. Mazar of South Bend; two sons, Jules M. (Angie) Mazar of Elkhart and Ralph B. (Kari) Mazar of South Bend; one son-in-law, Scott Burnett of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three sisters, Irene (Richard) White and Carol (Roger) Maier, both of Elkhart, and Janet (Jack) Shanholt of Bristol; two brothers, Roger (Phyllis) Trigg of Wilmington, N.C., and Steven Trigg of South Bend; 10 grandchildren, Jules Lynn Burnett, Scott Burnett Jr., James Burnett, Jason Mazar, Ashley Beelaert, Kyle Mazar, Cayla Mazar, Codi Mazar, Nikiolette Mazar, Max Mazar, Kain Templeton and Victoria Safford; and two great-grandchildren, Noah Mazar and Hunter Mazar.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Karen S. Trigg.

Mrs. Mazar was the owner/operator of Meyers Detective Bureau of South Bend for 40 years. Her daughter, Renee, still operates the family business. Mrs. Mazar was an avid gardener and enjoyed working with her hands at such things as furniture restoration, sewing, interior decorating and cooking. She also enjoyed spending time with her family as she was a loving mother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
