Maxine Elizabeth Bowers, 88, of Hanover, PA, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover. Born June 5, 1928 in Taneytown, MD, she was the daughter of the late John Ernest and Murriel (Wantz) Fream. She was the wife of the late Herbert W.F. Bowers, to whom she was married for 62 years.
Maxine was a graduate of Taneytown High School, class of 1946. She was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Taneytown, where she sang in the choir and with various choral groups for many years, and participated in the ladies quilting group. She was an accomplished seamstress, and worked for several area clothing manufacturers.
She is survived by daughters, Bonnie Addison and husband Robert of Hanover, PA, and Pattie Blouse and husband Michael of Dublin, VA; brothers, George Fream and wife Lareina of Hanover, PA, James Fream and wife Sharon of Glen Burnie, MD, John Fream and wife Virginia of Mechanicsburg, PA, Glen Fream of Taneytown, MD, and Robert Fream and wife Connie of Thurmont, MD; 6 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Marie Smith and Betty Naylor; and brothers, Ellwood and Charles Fream.
