Max Wayne Kolomitz, age 68 of Oak Park, passed away on November 15, 2022. He is survived by his two children Alex (Emily) Kolomitz and Marisa Kolomitz; his sisters Kathy (Larry) Ellison and Nancy Kolomitz; his nephew Max Ellison, his niece Emily (Nic) Crosby, as well as many cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Margaret Kolomitz, as well as his Uncle John Gerec.
Max thoroughly enjoyed music, especially when he was drumming in one of his numerous bands. He held a B.A. in Music from Wayne State University and enjoyed listening to many different genres, including rock & roll, jazz, and blues. Some of his other favorite hobbies included reading, doing puzzles, spinning records, and watching classic films.
Max also had a passion for computers and served many years of his professional career as a Systems Administrator. He was extremely smart and was always one step ahead of others his age when it came to technology.
Max loved to eat and claimed his favorite kind of food was “kid food,” such as candy, hot dogs, and pizza. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed keeping others entertained by quoting jokes and one-liners from his favorite comedy films and standup comedians.
Above all else, Max had an immense amount of pride, love, and devotion for his two children, Alex and Marisa. Whether it was reading bedtime stories to them as children, being a cautious driving teacher in their teens, or giving sound advice on grown-up topics through adulthood, he always knew the right things to do or say to make sure they succeeded. He was completely invested in their lives and made that known to everyone.
