Max R. Shifflett, 83, of 1106 Youngs Road, Linden, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at home, surrounded by his family and friends, following a lengthy illness.
Max was predeceased by his wives, the former Vivian J. Folmar and the former Ruby A. Smith.
Max retired from the former Bethlehem Steel and had worked at the former C.A. Reed. He was a member of Pine Run United Methodist Church, a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War, a member of the Salladasburg Senior Citizens and enjoyed farming, woodworking and carpentry.
Born April 18, 1928 in Montgomery, he was the son of J. Walter and Annie Martin Shifflett.
Surviving are sons, Max Richard (Theresa) Shifflet Jr. of Cortland, Ohio and Charles Lee (Suzanne) Shifflet of Dripping Springs, Tex.; daughters, Deborah Ann (James Jr.) Dougherty of Mill Creek Twp., Diane Jean (Louis) Cupiccia and Linda Marie Shifflet, both of Williamsport and Michelle Renee (Mark) Baughman of Niceville, Fla.; brothers, Roy (Doris) Shifflet of Valrico, Fla., Bill (Vera) Shifflet of Cogan Station and Bob (Pat) Shifflet of Emporia, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Max is also survived by his special friend, Agnes M. Steppe of Salladasburg, and her family, especially her son, Mark, who all provided comfort, support and love to him during the last 14 years.
