Max Reiner Helmers, age 74, of Algona, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at his home. Max Reiner Helmers was born in Algona on October 2, 1940 to Reiner and Alvina (Pergande) Helmers. Max attended Algona Schools and graduated from Algona High School in 1958. On February 15, 1963, Max was united in marriage to Viola Marie Muller in Emmetsburg, Iowa. Max owned and operated Max Helmers Construction retiring in 2001. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Algona. Max enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren, Indian Stories, fishing, hunting, camping, farming and anything else that enabled him to enjoy nature. Left to cherish Max’s memory is his wife of 52 years, Viola of Algona; children Laura Ann (Scott) Ziesman of Algona and Rob Max (LuAnn) Helmers of Rockwell; five grandchildren; his mother, Alvina Helmers of Algona; brothers Edwin (Judy) Helmers of Algona and Marlyn (Ann) Helmers of Algona; sister-in-laws Nancy (Mick) Plantz of Pocahontas, Shirley (Doug) Bush of Plover and Wanda Mittrucker of Estherville and numerous other family members. He was preceded in death by his father, Reiner Helmers; an infant brother, Kasjen Helmers; a son-in-law, Troy Robb; and father and mother-in-law, Lester Mueller and Irene Behrends.
