On January 6, 2022 (just 24 days shy of turning 95), Maurine peacefully joined her loved ones in heaven: her parents Melinda Iske and Harry Selbher, husband Lloyd Hesser, sister Avis Leonard, and two son-in-laws, Paul Groth and Gene Lessar. Maurine is survived by children Marsha Lessar, Larry Alford & Sheri Groth; three step children: Diana Baldwin, Erne Hesser & Annette Ware; 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great grand child.
Maurine Alma Hesser was born to Melinda Iske and Harry Selbher January 30, 1927in Newton, Iowa. Maurine graduated from Newton High School in 1944, and continued onto Barnes Business School. She worked for Newton Manufacturing as credit manager & secretary. She moved to Colorado in 1961, and briefly worked for Samsonite Luggage in the office. She also worked for Gates Rubber Co. as Advertising Co-ordinator for 25 years and retired in 1992. She married Lloyd Hesser in 1972, and their final home together was at Heritage Eagle Bend in Aurora, Colo. Maurine and Lloyd loved traveling together in their motorhome. They loved spending time at their property near Red Feather Lake. Together they participated in craft shows for 8 years. Maurine was very talented in sewing – she made many blankets, cross stitch, porcelain dolls & care bears. She loved playing cards and the last few years took up making beautiful greeting cards.
Just an interesting side story – Marsha complained a blanket was never big enough once you got under the covers. Next thing we knew we all had “Blankets of many colors” She had made over size blankets out of her scape fabric. Some of us still use them..
