Maurice William Casey, 91, of Walker, MN, passed away September 15, 2013 at the May Creek Memory Lodges in Walker.
He was born on June 13, 1922 in Little Falls, MN the son of Joseph and Ella (Simmons) Casey. Maurice grew up and graduated high school from Walker. Following graduation he was drafted into the Army where he served in the Pacific Theatre of War from 1942 to 1946.
He returned to Walker and continued his career with the United States Postal Service. Maurice married Bette Haugen on the 14th of June 1946 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Walker. He was a lifetime member of the Walker American Legion Post 134 where he served in various offices. Maurice was also a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church starting as an altar boy and serving in different positions throughout his lifetime.
Service to his family, community and his church were Maurice’s greatest source of strength and happiness. He always felt that Walker and its community gave he and his family a sense of completeness with its wonderful schools, community to raise children and a great source of work. His favorite form of recreation was spending time on the golf course.
Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, wife Bette, son Danny, brother George, grand daughter Monica.
He is survived by his daughters; Maureen Graham of Sauk Rapids, MN, and Colleen (Paul) Epeneter of Backus, MN, son; Timothy (Annette) Casey of Pason, AZ, sister; Ruth Sears of Yuma, AZ, grandchildren; Michael, Timothy, Brenda, Chad, Scott, Dan, Jason and Jennifer, 8 great grandchildren, aunt; Peg Grabowski of Florida, other relatives and many friends.
Maurice’s family wishes to thank the entire staff of May Creek for providing the wonderful home and care they gave since 2007.
