Maurice “Mick” SoRelle passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and loved ones on Thursday, March 26, 2015 after an extended illness. He is so loved by all his family and friends.
Mick was born May 3, 1940 to William Albert and Glenna McGrath SoRelle of Fort Hall, Idaho. He lived at Fort Hall until age 7 before moving to Gooding with his mother, where he graduated from Gooding High School in 1958. A brief synopsis of his working career: In his early years he worked as a department manager for Grand Central Department Stores in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He attended two years of technical training at ITT in Boise which led to his employment with Idaho Power as where he specialized in developing rural electrical hookups and energy management. He raised two wonderful children, Mike and Nichole SoRelle. In 1980 he married Nellie, his wife of 35 years, in Boise, Idaho. They lived for eight years in Reno, Nevada where Mick worked as a journeyman baker for John Ascuaga’s Nugget Resort and Casino. They returned to Boise and thereafter opened Apple Annie’s Bakery in Nampa. Following that he became employed with TSA at the Boise airport and retired as a security supervisor in 2007.
Mick had a lifelong interest in music and loved the outdoors. He was a talented guitar player who naturally attracted the attention of anyone within hearing distance of his music. He also enjoyed landscape photography and received instruction from a student of Ansell Adams. His photographs are cherished by his family.
He is survived by his wife Nellie SoRelle, his children Mike SoRelle and Nichole SoRelle Lane, Mike Fairless, Kelli Fairless, and Robert Fairless. His sisters Patsy Myers of Grangeville and Sue Hall, of Hermiston, OR. Also Erik Soderblom, Mike, Courtney, and Tiffany Fairless, Angela Brown, Cameron and Avery Spaulding. He was preceded in death by his mother and father and his brother Bill and his sister Beverly.
