WINSTED –ASSELIN – Maurice “Moe” J. Asselin, 84, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Barbara (Goldstone) Asselin for 56 years. Born July 29, 1935 in Winsted; the son of the late Emile and Aldea (Bernard) Asselin and was a lifelong resident where he knew almost everyone. Moe was a devout Catholic who attended St. Anthony School and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. He also watched the Daily Mass on television every day. His career consisted of working at Winsted Precision, TRW Bearings Division, Sterling Engineering and New Hartford Schools prior to retiring in 1998. Moe was also an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and attended the ROMEO (Retired Old Men Eating Out) dinners. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Rita (Corey) Wood of Granby, Donna (Terry) Winn of Winsted, Paul Asselin of Winsted and Phil (Jennifer) Asselin of SC; grandchildren, Beth Dunn of NY, Chad and Alicia Winn of Winsted, Savannah Asselin of SC, Jason (Rebecca) Wood of MA, Matthew Wood of MA, Chase (Janice) Sigmon of NC; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, J. Aime (Rosanne) Asselin of FL, Lionel (Kathy) Asselin of Winsted and Leo Paul Asselin of Winsted; sisters, Jackie (Reno) Mottai and Jeannette Asselin, all of Torrington and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister, Claudette Fragale.
