Maurice Lee Woodhull Jr. (Lee) was born in Port Chester, NY and passed away on Dec. 21, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 54.5 years, his two children, their spouses and four grandchildren, in-laws Anita Lindfield & David & Mary Hendricks, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Maurice Lee & Lois Woodhull, as well as two siblings, Maurine Woodhull Malovany and infant Richard Woodhull.
Lee grew up in Scarsdale, NY graduating from Scarsdale High School, but not before earning his Eagle Scout rank in the Boy Scouts of America.
He graduated from The College of Emporia in Emporia, KS where he met the love of his life, Janet Hendricks whom he wed on June 27, 1965. Shortly thereafter he began his career in rubber chemistry at Goodyear Tire in Topeka, KS before receiving a personal invitation from Uncle Sam to join the military. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1971 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Fort Sill, OK where he was an artillery instructor and then finally at Fort Dix, NJ. He left the Army as a First Lieutenant.
His rubber chemistry career then took them back to Topeka, KS and then on to Batesville, AR. After the second grade teacher brought them in for a conference regarding their daughter’s speech … no southern drawl… they decided it was high time to move from Arkansas!
