Maurice Darnell John passed away June 10th, 2022 in Gallup, NM due to health problems. He was the second child born to Dallas O. John and Beverly A. John (Biggs) John Dec 2nd, 1956 at the U.S Army General hospital in Frankfurt Germany. His father was stationed with the U.S Army at that time.
Maurice grew up and spent most of his life in the Four Corners area. He attended Window Rock Elementary, mid school Orem UT, and High School in Window Rock, AZ, and later attended Utah Trade Tech at Orem UT. Upon completion of his college training in welding he returned to Window Rock and worked for Carbon Coal, later for United Nuclear. He later took a position teaching High School Vocation for Window Rock School for many years and then transferred to Gallup New Mexico School District for several years until retirement. At school he was known to all of his students as the “Master Ringtail”.
Maurice married Winona Cheryl Burrow and later divorced. They have 2 sons Ryan Maurice and Brent Forrest John.
Maurice is survived by his 2 sons Ryan M. and Brent F. John, Mother Beverly A. John, sister Janiece Palmer and 2 Grandsons Corey R and Logan John.
He is preceded in death by his Father Dallas O. John, Brother Dallas L. John, and Sister Treva A. Carlson.
