Beloved family man

Maurice (Michael) Cohen, 71, passed away on Sunday June 24, 2007 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He was born on October 30, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York to Sidney and Sophie Cohen.

Michael was married to Bernice (Bunny) Finkelstein on March 30, 1958. He was a member of the United States Air Force from 1953 until 1974, where he served as a munitions technician and radar maintenance technician before becoming the editor-in-chief as well as staff photographer for the HAFB newspaper.
Michael was a gifted pianist who gave a recital at Carnegie Hall at the age of twelve. Additionally, he was a talented photographer, and was the owner of Michael’s Photography in Alamogordo until 1978.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Bunny; sister, Diana Sunstad, of Florida; his children Sharon Jones of Houston, Texas; Alan Cohen and his wife Camille of Anchorage, Alaska; his granddaughter Brandy Jones of Chicago, Illinois; and his four feline companions. He is preceded in death by his beloved pet “Someone”.
Michael will be remembered by his family and friends as a compassionate man with strongly held beliefs and a witty sense of humor.
