Maurice Chancy Alexander of Chesaning Michigan passed away April 26, 2024 at the age of 91. Maurice was born on March 9, 1933, to Lester and Beatrice (Loachridge) Alexander of Brant Michigan. After graduating high school in 1952, Maurice was married to the love of his life, Betty Ann (Brainerd) for 56 years until her death in 2009. They raised four wonderful children together. He proudly served in the Army, then was a 38-year Buick employee until his retirement.Maurice was a busy man. He enjoyed camping, woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting, cutting firewood and general mechanical work on equipment of all sizes. Maurice especially loved to fish and garden! He was known to stand in one spot for hours on end, fishing without a break, and his vegetable gardens and fruit trees were immaculate! He battled the deer for his veggies and fruit by playing Beatles music on a speaker in the garden.Later in life he met his special companion, Joann Schmidt, with whom he shared a fishing and gardening passion. They worked hard to grow thousands of onions and garlic, among other produce, for their veggie stand. Joann took extra special care of Maurice during his16 month battle with cancer.Maurice was preceded in death by Betty, his daughter Patricia Weigold, his brothers Floyd and Orville “Red” Alexander, his parents Lester and Beatrice Alexander. Maurice is survived by his children Pamela (Steve) Jadwin of Swartz Creek,son-in-law, Terry Weigold, Gail (Debbi) Alexander of Sumner, Gene (Sally) Alexander of Henderson; Grandchildren Teresa (Troy) Jolin, Laura (Viktor) Cakmak, Christopher Alexander, Jonathon Weigold, Allison (David) Wyrembelski, Jessie (Richard) Everts, Elise (Alyssa) Jadwin; Great grandchildren Cameron and Colt Jolin, Maya Cakmak; brother Arnold Alexander of Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Sharon Alexander and Nancy Alexander, and many nieces and nephews.
