Maurice was born in Paxton, Illinois on September 9, 1925 to Dewey and Grace Johnson. He loved his family, country, community and golf.
He proudly served in the Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Robinson. He left the Navy with a pierced left ear which was quite the statement in the forties. He had lots of razzing from his family over the years.
Maurice was a hard worker. It was important to him to take care of and provide for his family. He was a mailman for 35 years, most of those years spent delivering mail in Cocoa Isles, and at times worked a second job to make ends meet.
Maurice was quite the sportsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pool, but his favorite was golf. He loved to make a wager with his fellow golfers and often walked away winning. Over the years, he made 13 hole in ones.
Maurice was loved as a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He had a long and happy life and will be cherished forever.
