Maurice Anderson was born on October 15, 1946 in Independence, Kansas to Marion and Maybell Anderson. He grew up in Independence, Ks and went to St. John Baptist Church as a young boy. He attended and graduated from Independence High School, and continued his education at Menninger Foundation, where he studied bio-feedback. He later married Veronica L. Anderson(Ronka) in 1971. They had three children, Daniel L Anderson(Danny), Angela R. Anderson(Sue-Sue), and Maurice Anderson Jr.(Ree-Ree). Maurice lived in Topeka, Kansas until they relocated in 1979 to Sommerville, Tx. where he owned a very successful cafe business that was known for miles near and far. Then later moved to Caldwell in 1982, where he worked in the oilfield for many years until the end of the big boom. Afterwards, he worked various jobs and trades in this area. Maurice also gave his life to Christ and was baptized around 1989, after moving to Caldwell, at Galilee Baptist church under the guidance of the late great Rufus R. Waters Sr. He Believed and honored God and remained a member of Galilee Baptist Church for many years and serving as the janitor for years, as well as deacon a short time. He later moved to Bryan,Tx to be closer with his children and was apart of the unity prayer group at Pilgrim Rest Bryan, Tx. Maurice was very willing and always wanted to help people; as well as a very resourceful and an intelligent man. He had a great sense of humor and he could make anyone laugh, anywhere, about anything. He was a well traveled man and he left his mark everywhere he went. He never met a stranger. He is proceeded in death by both parents, and two brothers, Marion(June) Anderson Sacramento, Ca and Leland Anderson New York, Ny. Also, three sisters, Charolette Anderson, Independence,Ks, Flourine Martin Anderson, Tulsa,Ok, and Ida Mae Kenard, Independence, Ks. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Veronica Anderson, Caldwell, Tx. And two sons, Daniel Anderson Waco, Tx, Maurice Anderson Jr. Bryan, tx and one daughter Angela Anderson, BryanTx. And his dearest beloved only granddaughter, that he referred to as “my Rachel” Rachel M. Walton Bryan, tx. Also remaining are his five brothers: Lemule Anderson(Josephine) Houston, TX, Tommy Anderson(Jean) Kansas City, Ks, Ralph Anderson(Judy) Kansas City, TX , Walter Anderson Las Vegas, Nv, and Bernard Anderson Houston, TX. And a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.>>> Special mentions are his good friend Mrs. Freddie Walton, neighbor Ms. Caroline Gene Washington, and his long-time friend Deryl Henson.
