Maudie Marie Hutto Hanna was born on May 21, 1948 in Irwin County, Georgia to Eston and Ruth Jowers Hutto. She passed away peacefully in her home on February 6, 2020, surrounded by her biggest, greatest accomplishments. The daughters and that blonde haired boy she created with her husband of fifty years, Joseph Hanna.

For over thirty years, Maudie was known by many in the community as “the lady who fixed my hair”. For fifty years, she was known as “the lady married to Joe Hanna”. She then became “Annemarie, Vanessa Roni Jo and that blond boys Mama”. However, her favorite title for the past twenty-nine years was “Sitty”.

Maudie became Sitty almost twenty-nine years ago upon the birth of her first grandson, Ryan. While Maudie was born a blonde haired, blue eyed true Southern Heinze 57 melting pot kind of girl, she earned the right to the title of Sitty when she married Joe Hanna and his great big loud Middle Eastern Family. Sitty is Arabic for “grandmother”. After the birth of Ryan, her three dark haired girls and blonde boy ended up giving Maudie the total of fifteen grandchildren (ten dark haired like Joe, five blondes like Maudie) and 2 blonde haired great grandsons.

While Maudie has now been reunited with Joe, she leaves behind her dark haired girls, Annemarie Hanna, Vanessa Brown (Chris), Veronica Jo Russ (Charlie), her blonde boy Jeremy Ford (Amber), fifteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren. She is survived by two sisters, Carolyn Floyd and Linda Baugher (Charlie), two sisters-in-love, Joyce Ricciardelli (Rick) and Joanne Lott (Al) as well as a brother in love, Jerome Hanna (Joanne).

Maudie also leaves behind countless cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers who loved her dearly.
