Mattie Mae Moyd was born May 21, 1956, in Prosperity, South Carolina, the daughter of Mattie Bell Dawkins and Johnnie Cromer. She departed this life earthly life on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at MUSC Health Center.
“Matt” as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was educated in the public schools of Richland County School District One, graduating from A. C. Flora High School. She was employed with Providence Hospital from which she retired after many years of dedicated service.
Though her sudden passing has left a void in the lives of all those who loved and knew her, she will dearly be missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tirisha Moyd-Taylor.
Those who are cherishing her fond and precious memories are her loving husband, Glen Moyd; two adoring children, Tavares (Adrian) Cromer, and Tarisha (Desmond) Moyd; loving parents, Mattie Dawkins and Johnnie Cromer; sisters, Patricia, Natisha, Sharon, Kathy, Darlene and Ebony; grandchildren, Dominique, Deandre, Tyrone, Jr., Leon, Mikayla, J’Mee, Devonte, and JocQwan, Jr; and special grandson, Tavares; goddaughter, Nylah Adkins; caring father and mother-in-law; Nathaniel & Melvina Moyd; caring brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Jr.
