Mattie Lucille Helms Collins, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at her daughter’s home where she had been lovingly cared for by her family. She was born on October 2, 1918 in Fayetteville, Georgia to the late Reverend Joe Lee Helms and Clydie Eufala Helms. Along with her parents, Mattie is preceded in death by her husband Harold Eugene Collins, two brothers, and her son-in-law James Elliot Conner. She is survived by her daughter, Felecia Ann Conner, grandchildren Laurie Conner Abt (Richard) of Newnan and Brian Alan Conner (Danielle), also of Newnan; and great-grandchildren Emily Abt, Samuel Abt, Jack Conner, Dylan Conner, and Bella Conner. Mattie retired from Playtex of Newnan. She enjoyed being involved in church and faithfully attended First Pentecostal Church and South Metro Ministries as long as she was able.
