Mattie Dimple Johnson, better known as Dimple, formerly of Waldron, Arkansas, passed from this life on April 26, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She had lived the last few years of her life in Weatherford, Oklahoma where she had moved to be near her daughter. Dimple was born on November 21, 1921 in Bates, Arkansas to Frank and Mandy Brown. She was next to the youngest of ten children.
Dimple married Eugene Johnson on May 27, 1935 and had two children, a son, Robert, and a daughter, Dorothy. They lived their lives in Bates, Arkansas where he worked for the Kansas City Southern railroad and she worked for a chicken processing plant until they both retired. In retirement, they enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, and working in the garden. There were always plenty of fresh vegetables and lots of strawberries! Dimple was a member of the Order of the Eastern StarLater in life, she was an active volunteer for the Waldron Senior Citizens Center where she was well known. She enjoyed and looked forward to the dances on Friday and Saturday nights. She would often laugh and say, “If they can help me out of the chair, I can dance!”
Dimple was blessed with a long and fruitful life and was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Dimple is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Bergner of Weatherford, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Dimple was preceded in death by one son, Dr. Robert E. Johnson, husband, Eugene Johnson, three brothers, and six sisters.
