Matthew “Chef” Hill, 47, of Middletown, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 7th at his home. Born in Birmingham, AL, he was the son of Cora Hill of Middletown and the late Cleo Craig. Matthew had lived in Middletown for the past forty-three years and was a member of Excellent Way Ministries in Middletown. He lived life to the fullest in his own way. He found a way to love everyone and his kindness and bright smile lit up a room. Matthew’s famous line was “Wait for it, Wait for it.” He was an avid pool player who played for the “Dominators”. He had a heart for basketball. Along with his mother, Matthew is survived by two sons, Matthew R. Hill (Courtney), of New Bedford, MA and Kalen Hill; a daughter, (Daddy’s Girl) Samej Hill of Middletown; two brothers, Melvin Hill (Saundra) and William Hill, Jr., all of Middletown; two sisters, Virginia Hill of Meriden and Annie Hill of Middletown; two grandchildren, Camden and Raeya Hill; a very special niece, Keisha Welch of Middletown; one uncle, William Hill of Aliceville, AL; special cousins, James Hill, Sr. (Marla), James Hill, Jr., and Willie Hill, Jr.; former wife, Kim Peterson of Middletown and a host of other relatives and friends.
