Matthew DeWayne Moats, 35 of Wickwire, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 14, 1981 in Grafton, son of Herbert Stephen and Mary Sloan Moats.
He was a US Army Veteran and was a pipe fitter and plumber. Matthew enjoyed WVU sports and especially all Taylor County Sports with his nieces and nephews. He liked to go to the cabin in Webster County with his dad. Matthew was big on politics and was a volunteer at the day care.
Matt is survived by two sisters, Kristina Peters and husband Jason, Grafton, Ashley Kay Knotts, Morgantown, two brothers, Mike Moats and wife Amy, Grafton, Mark Moats and wife Cari, Flemington, ten nieces and nephews, Savanah, Garrett, Mallorie, Hannah, Tanner, Gabe, Maddie, Jayson, Noah, and Jacob, paternal grandmother, Gertrude Moats, Grafton, nine uncles and aunts, Butch and Linda, Alfred and Loretta, Tom, Linda, Rick and Brenda, Terry and Ellen, Donna and Ivan, and Donnie and Darlene.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Virgil and Mava Sloan Eagle, three aunts, Wanda Board, Mae Cumpston, Pamela Zinn.
