Matthew and Sally were soon to celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary.
Matthew was raised and lived most of his life in Clermont, Indiana. He attended
Robey Elementary, Fulton Jr. High School, and Ben Davis High School. Matthew was
currently working to obtain a G.E.D. from Wayne Township Adult Education at Ben
Davis University, sadly he had just taken the final test for the G.E.D. the week before he
passed without knowing the results. After obtaining a G.E.D., Matthew was headed for
college at Ivy Tech Community College to obtain Heating/Cooling Certificate.
Matthew started working in construction at a very early age and he also worked in
the cement industry. Through his young life he was mentored and worked with
experienced carpenters and that along with his own natural abilities, made him a very
talented carpenter. One of Matthew’s favorite things to do was to use his excellent
carpentry skills to help people out, every job was completed with perfection. Matthew
never turned down anyone asking for help building anything from garages to remodeling
homes. Matthew was a “jack of all trades” when it came to fixing or building something,
and could take anyone’s ideas and somehow make it better than expected. Matthew spent
some time in Sugarland. Texas working. After surviving a hurricane decided Indiana
wasn’t so bad even with tornados and blizzards.
Matthew was a true blue Indianapolis Colts fan. He enjoyed hunting. Matthew and
several of his cousins and childhood friends hunted deer together with rifle and bow.
When it was deer season we all knew where Matthew was. Matthew and Sally hunted
mushrooms, gardened and enjoyed country music. Matthew was a member of the Sons of
the America Legion  and he enjoyed time spent with all of the Veterans. Matthew had
friends from all walks of life. He was still active with all his childhood friends who are very
near and dear to him. That is what type of person Matthew was, a loyal friend.
The Appleget family will be celebrating Matthew’s life at Crooked Creek Baptist

2012 at 1:30 pm.
The Appleget family want to personally thank all the people through Matthew’s
life that taught, helped, and loved him. Matthew was taken from us very quickly and
unexpectedly but he left us with so many wonderful memories to hold in our hearts and
bring smiles on to faces. The family wishes to thank all who spent time with Matthew the
last week of his life from the emergency medical teams. Speedway Police Department,
and all the staff at Wishard Hospital, especially for going above and beyond to help
Matthew and his family during our time of need. If Matthew could speak now he would
want everyone to shake hands or hug those people mentioned above and tell them Thank
You for all they do. A very special heart filled Thank You to the instructors Matthew had
at Ben Davis adult learning education, they gave Matthew a wonderful gift of new knowledge,
they were there to help Matthew obtain his new goals in life. In this time of
tragedy there were people willing to jump in to help Matthew and his wife without a
second thought to their own well being. We don’t know who you are but you will be
forever in our hearts and gave comfort to Matthew and his wife had in time of need. One
of Matthew’s close childhood friend said “There should be a movie made of Matthew
Appleget’s life” so everyone can enjoy the person he was.
