Matthew Allen Batterton, age 38, passed away in Utah after suffering injuries from a car accident on October 8, 2019. He was accompanied by his good friend, Risa Johnson who also lost her life that day.

Matthew was born May 18, 1981 in Canon City, CO to Lyle and Cheryl (Rankin) Batterton. He was an only child.

The family moved to Larmar, Colorado and then settled in Wisconsin but Matthew found his way back to Colorado as an adult.

Matthew worked as a Salesman, Electrician, and Carpenter who had a passion for woodworking.

Matthew was a very loving person and he loved by all who knew him. He could always make you laugh.  All of the kids loved him because he would always play with them.

At an early age he accepted the Lord as his savior and was baptized on October 29, 2017.

The most important person in his life was his daughter, Zoey Mae Batterton, Zoey’s mother, Shirlee Fagan was a special love of Matthews.

Matthew said many times all I want is a house and a family so Zoey can come and be with me.

Matthew was above and beyond a beautiful person inside and out but he did have an ongoing battle with drug addiction.  If he could talk to you right now he would say to young people facing peer pressure and boredom to NEVER try drugs even once.  You cannot become addicted to something you do no try and he would never want anyone or their families to go through life dealing with this kind of pain.

Although he was an only child his cousins, were his brothers and sisters.

He had many special friends and family in his life. One cousin, Allen, was a brother.  Allen, Tiffany, Lyla and family helped him through so so many times.

He is survived by his daughter, Zoey Mae Batterton; Aunts and Uncles, Crystal & Terry, Britt & Helen, Greg & Tanya, DJ, Patti, Cheala, Cole; Ryan Flores; Shallon and her three girls, Kaydie, Addie and Kotie, Javier, Quillon & Lyn, Jaclyn, Jennifer, Brett, Sarah and Michelle;cousins, Priscilla, Makayla, David; grams and gramps, Amanda & Guy, Francis Hammack and Dave Rankin; and many more.
